The entirely Female rap collective The Sorority (Haviah Mighty, Keysha Freshh, Lex Leosis & pHoenix Pagliacci) drop their debut video “Ladies Night Ft. Leila Dey” in honor of International Womens Day. The song pays homage to the Angie Martinez x Lil Kim x Left Eye x Da Brat x Missy Elliot song of the same name, while simultaneously broadcasting a strong pro-women message. Let it be known however, this song is effective beyond its strong socially conscious message in the sense that its fuckin hard as bricks.
Honestly, you should just read the premiere on Fader because its far more interesting/ informative (and better written) than what I have to offer here. Hopefully this isn’t just a one off song, Toronto has a ton of strong female talent already, but this group feels like a necessary addition to the scene.
